Shipwrecked on a remote island, a family of castaways must overcome a host of challenges in their strange new environment. Irwin Allen's adaptation of the 1812 novel by Johann David Wyss follows the adventures of the Karl Robinson, his wife, two boys, and an orphaned girl, who wash up on a volcanic island after a shipwreck. Also on the island is Jeremiah Worth, who was marooned there seven years earlier.

A family setting out for a new life across the sea is shipwrecked on a deserted island. The family members collaborate to create a home for themselves in the jungle environment.

In this animated take on the timeless family adventure, the Robinsons wash ashore of a remote tropical island after their boat capsizes. Though they never lose hope of being rescued, their remarkable tale of survival is one that the entire family will enjoy.

When Angelino Jack Robinson gets a new job in Australia, he decides to take his sissy wife Ann, brave sons Shane and Todd and wining daughter Elisabeth 'Lizzy' by sailing yacht from Hong Kong to Syndney. The gun he gets thrown in by Sheldon Blake proves disabled, and for a sinister reason: near Borneo, Blake's men turn up to capture them. The family escapes but loses the yacht on a reef. They build a cool camp on an island. But the pirates keep coming back, and the boys discover why: he hid a treasure in the yacht. Shane is also discovered and captured in more then one way by French plane wreck survivor Françoise, who later teams up with the family.

After having been recently shipwrecked, a group of survivors begin dealing with both the reality of being stranded on a remote island as well as with feelings of alienation and isolation. Adapted from the novel by Johann Wyss, this was the pilot episode for a proposed television series co-produced by Edgar G. Ulmer and Louis Hayward. Filmed in Mexico in 1957 and bearing a 1958 copyright, Swiss Family Robinson: Lost in the Jungle was not "released" until 2000, when it was included as an extra feature on the DVD version of Ulmer's The Pirates of Capri.

This TV short was directed by Arthur Rankin Jr. and Jules Bass in 1972. Based on the 1812 novel by Johann David Wyss, Swiss Family Robinson is a part of the animated series, Festival of Family Classics.
